“US is treating Yemen as a Saudi possession” : former US diplomat speaks

In an exclusive interview with Yemen Press Agency, former Saudi-based US diplomat Michael J. Springmann denounces the extensive role of the United States in the war against Yemen.

SANA’A – In an exclusive interview taken by the Yemen Press Agency, former US diplomat Michael J. Springmann, has accused the United States of treating Yemen as if it were part of the Saudi kingdom. He furthermore denounced United States support for the Riyadh regime, and called for international action to be taken against the invasion.

“America is not treating Yemen as an independent state, like Japan or Germany. Rather, it is treating Yemen as a Saudi possession,” Springmann said in the interview.

“The U.S. support of Saudi Arabia’s war on Yemen and that U.S. military action in Yemen or on its borders incurs the wrath of the Yemeni people. What country likes it population attacked and killed?” he continued.

Michael Springmann was a top US diplomat based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, under the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, from September 1987 to March 1989. Here, he was in charge of the visa bureau of the US consulate in Saudi Arabia. During his tenure, he noticed a large number of visas being handed out without due process, to Wahhabi extremists who used them to travel to the United States. Upon further research, he found out a CIA programme to bring these Wahhabis to the US in order to train them for later use in service of US imperialism. Upon filing a complaint about these practises, Springmann was fired from the Department of State.

Since then, he has been a prolific writer and political activist, writing amongst others the books Visas for Al Qaeda: CIA Handouts That Rocked The World, regarding the role of the US in spreading Wahhabi terrorism; and Goodbye, Europe? Hello, Chaos? Merkel’s Migrant Bomb, in which he claims that the European policy of herding immigrants from war-torn Islamic countries together within Europe, is done with the goal of creating more public unrest and hatred towards Muslims in general.
