President of Yemen martyred by Saudi airstrike

SANA’A – President of Yemen, Saleh Ali al-Sammad has achieved martyrdom on 19 April 2018, the National Salvation Government of Yemen has announced.

Saleh Ali al-Sammad, the president of the Supreme Political Council of the Republic of Yemen and high-ranking senior member of Ansarullah, was known as a staunch revolutionary, a true defender of the Republic, a great orator and excellent diplomat. He was at the forefront of diplomatic endeavours by the revolutionary government to reach out to other nations, and was instrumental at establishing talks with members of the European Union.

The President died last Thursday while inspecting the frontlines in Hodeidah province, according to some sources in the al-Buraihi area. Reports say he died during a Saudi airstrike on Yemeni positions.

His martyrdom was announced on Monday by Leader of the Revolution Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, who vowed revenge for the death of the President, stating that this crime “will not go unanswered”.

Meanwhile, certain sources state that the Missile Forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces are planning to release a new ballistic missile, named the Sammad-1, and that plans are being made for an escalated retaliation against the Saudi invaders.
