SANA’A – Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, the Leader of the Yemeni Revolution, has spoken on the occassion of the holy day of Ashura in Sana’a, emphasizing that just like the followers of Imam Husayn, the Yemeni nation and people will never surrender.

Ashura is the yearly commemoration of the Battle of Karbala in the year 680 CE, during which Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was brutally killed together with 72 of his followers by an army sent by the Umayyad leader and self-declared Caliph Yazid. The Ashura commemorations draw millions of mourners and pilgrims to the Iraqi city of Karbala each year, with 2017’s processions counting over 14 million devotees.
All over the world, many millions more assemble in order to honour the martyrs and continue the fight in their name.

“No matter how far the coalition of aggression reach in criminality and brutality, we are steadfast and will not give up, ever”, Sayyid al-Houthi said.

The Leader explained in his speech that the Yemeni people are fiercely adherent to freedom and dignity, and that this is why the invading coalition will never win. Sayyid al-Houthi furthermore reiterated that Yemen is steadfast in its dedication to its principles, including the freedom of Yemen, Palestine and Bahrain.

In conclusion, Sayyid Abdul-Malik al-Houthi stressed that Yemen will stand next to the international resistance of the free nations of the world in the global struggle against US hegemony.
