SANA’A – President of the Republic of Yemen Mahdi al-Mashat has urged the Russian Federation to expand its diplomatic role in bringing about a swift and just end to the war against Yemen.

In an official presidental letter sent by Mahdi al-Mashat to the Kremlin in the framework of strengthening bilateral ties between Yemen and Russia, the President pointed out the military escalation perpetrated by the Saudi coalition forces in the West Coast front. The letter furthermore stated that the goal of the continued conflict is spreading chaos in Yemen, and to serve the imperialist ambitions of the United States of America.

President al-Mashat also clarified that the Hodeidah offensive is but one part of a larger plan by the US-Saudi alliance to achieve control over the vital port cities, islands and maritime trade routes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The letter concluded by stating that the Republic of Yemen is keen to bring about an end to the violence as soon as possible, and expressed hope that Russian diplomatical support would enhance the chances of peace in Yemen.
